You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
-Jon Kabat Zinn-

Mindfulness - what is it?
Mindfulness trains the recognition and termination of our unconscious stimulus-response patterns, the "waves of life".
The value-free exploration and observation of the inner and outer "waves" enables a better understanding of ourselves. With this understanding we have the possibility to break new ground and to face the challenges of everyday life with serenity. We find peace and clarity for new, creative decisions and actions. We come back into contact with ourselves and experience the present moment as the only time in which we can act consciously.
With a healthy distance to our inner processes, we can avoid the consequences of stress and excessive demands.

With special exercises, areas of the brain can be trained like "a muscle". With alertness and openness, we can change the quality of our thinking, feeling and acting.
Mindfulness is a skill that is available to everyone, but we often don't have access to it. We can cultivate this, we can integrate the attitude of mindfulness more and more into our lives.
In the long term, mindfulness strengthens our health, resources, perception, self-care and well-being.
MBSR creates serenity, inner peace, concentration and a more positive outlook on life

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is the most researched anti-stress training in the world.
It is not a technique or method, but rather an inner attitude towards life. The essence of mindfulness is universal and has to do with the nature of our minds and has nothing to do with ideology, religion or belief.

Mindfulness in everyday life
The training of mindful perception while eating and walking are important everyday exercises. Many people only devote themselves marginally to the process of eating and are distracted by digital screens, newspapers or conversations during meals. The eating itself is almost automatically carried out, and what we eat is perhaps secondary. Mindful eating, means paying attention to it and takes place "offline".
When walking mindful, attention is directed to the individual bodily sensations that occur while walking or a conscious perception of the environment.

Mindfulness in the relationship
Being fully there in the present moment can also mean Being with your partner. An interested, turned attitude can get lost in the course of a long-term relationship.
A mindful attitude can give a new quality to any relationship and lead to more closeness and understanding. Mindful listening - Mindful communication can be very helpful. In addition, the classical exercises have a supportive effect, as everyone is trained in calmness, serenity, empathy and has an effect on the partnership.

Mindfulness at work
In a working world characterised by constant accessibility and increasing complexity, a mindful attitude can be a means of dealing well with challenges and stressful situations. For example, a study showed that mindfulness at work led to less exhaustion and greater satisfaction among participants.
Some of the proven mindfulness exercises last only a few minutes, so they can be used at a desk or even during a meeting.

Mindfulness in Yoga
According to Buddhist and Hindu teachings, mindfulness is traditionally understood as an attentive state of mind that is maintained during yoga. A conscious focus on body, mind and breath. To become a silent observer and to perceive and let go of body sensations, feelings, thoughts, accompanied by the breath.
Mindfulness in yoga provides the opportunity to experience the exercises with all senses and with full attention. This can be transported into everyday life to cultivate more serenity and peace.

Mindfulness in psychotherapy
Mindfulness for eating disorders
In psychotherapy, the use of MBSR or MBCT is now widespread. A mindful attitude with kindness and goodwill towards oneself has been proven in numerous studies to be an effective factor in promoting mental health. Mindfulness trains the recognition and termination of unconscious stimulus-response patterns.
Mindfulness is used in psychotherapy because the healing handling of states of tension, fear and even pain supports the process in therapy.

Mindfulness is also used in the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or so-called "binge eating".
Many people with eating disorders use food specifically to regulate their emotions. Thus, negative emotions are considered the most important trigger of eating disorders. In mindfulness training, people learn to perceive and accept their own feelings and to find a healthier way of dealing with them even in unpleasant moods. At the same time, mindful eating can lead to a change in the way we deal with ourselves and food.

Mindfulness for pain
Mindfulness training is a good complement to the drug and psychotherapeutic treatment of pain patients. In some studies it has been found that learning mindfulness, while not reducing the intensity of pain, can change the evaluation (thoughts and feelings).
Constant pain is a gruelling experience, and often patients with a chronic pain disorder understandably revolve a lot around issues related to the condition, as thoughts about pain remain in focus. During the mindfulness training a conscious perception of such thoughts is practiced and one learns to let go of them. This targeted letting go of thoughts can be practiced to reduce the pressure of suffering in everyday life. Here you can find more about it.

Mindfulness for depression
The effect of mindfulness on depression has been particularly well studied. Many depressives tend to lose themselves in endless musing and have a tendency to automatically devalue themselves in certain situations. You can find out more about this here
